Federico Benedetti

Federico Benedetti, born in Ferrara in 1960, after private studies in piano, clarinet and saxophone, and militancy in the progressive rock first, then free-jazz in their own city in the seventies, in 1979 he moved to Paris. 
Here is perfected under the guidance of Roger Guérin, François Théberge, Bradley Wheeler, Bill Dobbins, Dave Liebman; regarding the composition and classical harmony, he studied with Jean-Michel Bardez, a student of Olivier Messiaen, whose teaching would strongly impact his writing, and conducting with Jean-Philippe Grometto. He then dedicated the work professionally as a jazz musician. 
In the French capital has the chance to play as a sideman with the great and legendary American musicians and not (Roger Guérin, Kenny Clarke, Sam Woodyard, Benny Bailey, Illinois Jacquet, Marcel Zanini, Guy Lafitte, Jacky Terrasson, Glenn Ferris, Onzy Matthews Peter Bernstein, Etienne Mbappe, Angel "Pocho" Gatti ...). 
After a period stylistically oriented bebop -suona for years in the quintet and big band Roger Guérin, one of the most brilliant representatives of the generation of French- bopper, a passion for the music of Lennie Tristano, Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh, and in 1996 he founded his own quartet "Four for Lennie" with pianist Carine Bonnefoy and Italian drummer Andrea Michelutti.
